SHANGRI-LA-LA

A MUSICAL COMEDY

A Musical Comedy

WELCOME TO FABULOUS LAS VEGAS. PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONSCIENCE.

Two dreamers from Germany. A casino empire hungry for spectacle. And 3,044 hotel rooms that aren't going to fill themselves.

Shangri-La-La takes a wickedly comic look at the rise of Siegfried & Roy and the machinery of fame surrounding their reign at Steve Wynn's Mirage Hotel. In this satirical reimagining, magic meets money, ambition acquires sequins, and the American Dream comes with some very interesting fine print.

But every illusion has someone working behind the curtain. As devoted fan Joshua discovers the world behind the celebrity façade, his admiration gives way to uncomfortable questions. For the people keeping the spectacle alive, speaking up may be the most dangerous act of all.

With original songs, extravagant characters, and comedy with teeth, Shangri-La-La asks what we are willing to overlook when we desperately want to believe in magic.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

(Besides the obvious)

The Songs
🎵

The Songs

Original songs you'll be humming for weeks. Ballads, belters, and one very dramatic tiger solo.

The Chaos
🌪️

The Chaos

Feather boas. Pyrotechnics. A live (fake) tiger. Sequins raining from the ceiling. You're welcome.

The Tiger
🐯

The Tiger

Montecore. The star. The icon. The misunderstood genius who just wanted a snack.

WE'RE MAKING THE SHOW BIGGER. VEGAS WOULD APPROVE.

Our abbreviated festival production brought Shangri-La-La to audiences in New York, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia, following the magicians' rise and the creation of a spectacle built to fill the Mirage.

Now we're developing the full two-hour show. The expanded version carries the story further into the lives of the people behind the illusion: their loyalties, compromises, friendships, and the moment when keeping quiet becomes impossible. Expect more music, deeper stakes, and a second act in which the glitter has some explaining to do.

We're taking a break from performances while we develop the script, music, and staging. Apparently, even theatrical excess requires preparation.

NEW YORK CITY: SUMMER 2027

New York City performances are planned for summer 2027. We're working toward bringing the full-length Shangri-La-La to the stage. Performance dates, venue details, and ticket information will be announced as arrangements are confirmed.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CURTAIN

Created by Mike Meier · Co-written with Peter Giambalvo

Mike Meier is a writer, musician, and attorney whose connection to the Siegfried & Roy story extends beyond the audience. His legal work representing former employees helped inspire a musical about celebrity, ambition, and the distance between a public image and the people living behind it.

Developed with co-writer Peter Giambalvo, Shangri-La-La brings that perspective to a theatrical world of Vegas spectacle, outrageous comedy, and uncomfortable questions.

Some stories demand to be told. This one also demanded choreography.
